    • Cancer Free, The Way to Be January 17, 2008
More proof that beer is good for you.  Researchers in Germany say that a cancer-fighting substance found in hops could be enhanced to brew a special anti-cancer beer. I don’t think I’ve read a better story all year. I know the year is young, but the only news that could be better would be “Drinking […]

    • Flaming Shot January 10, 2008
The flaming shot. It’s an amateur move for sure, but it looks cool. The problem is that a lot of people don’t know how to take this shot. They can make it, and light it on fire and that’s where their “smartness” ends. Example 1 This dude is not smart. And the chick that says […]

Below I have chosen some of my favorites; CLEAR UP BROWN SPOTS IN YOUR LAWN According to Andrew Lopez, a professional […]

    • About Bloody Time January 2, 2008
After a night of hard drinking you will wake up either drunk or hung-over. Being drunk is not the problem, it’s the coming down from being drunk and being hung-over that is the problem. The solution; a Bloody Mary. There are 3 types of morning drinkers. There is the person who drinks a Bloody Mary, a […]

    • DWI of the Year January 1, 2008
Here at Don’t Eat the Worm we don’t condone drinking and driving. It is a dumb and reckless move that can cost not only you your life but an innocent person. (Not saying you’re guilty.) BUT Meagan Harper is now a god in DWI/DUI circles. She was busted in Oregon with a .55 BAC. The […]

Jemele Hill Off Her Rocker

Look at this picture.

nba_jamesvogue_200.jpg

Do you see anything racist about that?

Anything racist about LeBron James in basketball clothing with an intense look on his face with his arm around Gisele?

Would you liken it to this picture?

pg2_kingkong_200.jpg

Well Jemele Hill of ESPN’s Page 2 did in this article.

This is one of the most ridiculous articles I’ve ever read. Let me share some of my favorite quotes.

In case you haven’t seen the cover, LeBron has Gisele in one hand and a basketball in the other. LeBron is dressed in basketball gear, with his muscles flexing, tattoos showing and bared teeth. Gisele, on the other hand, is wearing a gorgeous slim-fitting dress, and smiling.

She looks like she’s on her way to something fashionable and exciting. He looks like he’s on his way to a pickup game for serial killers.

Apparently dressing like you would if you were going to play basketball makes you a serial killer. And I’m not sure if she (Jemele Hill) realizes this or not, but James has tattoos on him all the time, even when he is playing basketball.

Vogue deserves criticism, but more blame should go to LeBron and other black athletes, who need to exercise stricter control of their images. If LeBron is brave enough to wear a Yankees cap at an Indians playoff game, picking up a history book and educating himself shouldn’t cause a strain.

Hmmmmmm….So now he’s dumb? I’m just not getting it Jemele, I’m really not.

If you’re going to start nit picking the picture, how about pointing out that Gisele is holding onto James and is acting like a gold digger. Or that her dress shows too much skin. Or the background is too gray.

It is ridiculous that this stuff even gets put on mainstream websites. She gets paid to write stories like this and this isn’t the only story like this she’s done. She is known for this kind of story.

Give me a break, it’s a damn picture.

What do you think of the picture? Is it offensive to you?

  3. not offensive at all. people are just overreacting as usual. do you remember when time did a cover about the first of the new star wars movies? this idiot i worked with at the time got pissed because samuel l. jackson was NOT on the cover. he claimed they were making it “all about the white man” when in reality samuel l. jackson was only a minor character in the first movie.

  4. I don’t think people are over-reacting to this, only she is. She does it all the time.

Was the person you worked with black? (Not that it matters.) That shit is so stupid. People freaking out about someone because they aren’t on the cover of a magazine? Plus those new Star Wars movies sucked.

  5. people will use anything to get offended at, especially when it comes to the media. They are making a story out of nothing.

  6. It isn’t offensive to me at all but then again I love playing pick up games with serial killers.

  7. i’ve never been a fan of her writing. i’m almost positive that in her first article, she wrote about how she wasn’t going to let race influence her writing. huh.

  8. Adam – That’s pretty much what she does, time and time again.

Evyl – Those are the games that are the most fun.

Toph – You would think that she would try to get past racism as a black woman. But it just doesn’t seem to be the case with her.

  9. I have never heard of this chick but she sounds like a fucking idiot. She is REALLY reaching with this.

  10. I find it offensive- I am strongly against people, particularly basketball players, taking a crap in mid-photoshoot.

  11. I’m offended ’cause his shorts are too loose-fitting and you can’t get a good sense of his “package”.

  12. Lucky – Yeah, she does it constantly. She is a writer for Page 2 on the ESPN website.

DT – Now that you say something, I think I’m offended too.

Romi – I’m not offended by that at all. Haha.

  13. Serial killer? He looks like a hot basketballer.. I thought serial killers were quiet and flabby and unattractive. But the one thing I do know for sure about them is that they’ll always have zillions of neighbours who didn’t think they were the “type”. I don’t think he’s the type so maybe she’s right.

What a dick she is, so he can’t look like he’s in the middle of a game because it’s somehow not a good idea for a “black” athlete to portray the image of how he makes a living?

  14. Hahaha. I don’t even know what to say to this.

  15. It’s offensive to the writer because she wants it to be. I didn’t read her article, because I can’t stand reading garbage, but it actually might make me look better here that I didn’t read it…

I bet there is at least one reference to LeBron posing in King Kong-esque posture plays to the racist term of “Monkey”. (And if she didn’t reference it, she DELIBERATELY left it out.) Let’s face facts. LeBron is THE bad-ass of the league. He is the new Jordan, albeit without the rings…yet. Now let’s say that I was in LeBron’s position. Let’s say I was THE bad-ass. My face is decidedly chimp-like, but I am white. Would she write the same article? What if I was holding Alicia Keys, or some other gorgeous, but totally irrelevant to sports, woman of color?

There is one thing that is obvious. The LeBron/Giselle shot was SUPPOSED to resemble a King Kong pose. To me, it is no different than them in a Superman/Lois Lane pose, or even the American Gothic couple. Who the fuck cares? It was meant to conjure up thoughts of American photographic history. NOT Racism. When LeBron James is seen as a man FIRST, and a black man SECOND, silly writings such as this will stop getting attention.

  16. All she does is write about race. So she wil NEVER see someone’s gender or accomplishments before she sees their color.

  17. So apparently it’s in her best financial interest to invent racial stories where there weren’t supposed to be any.

Gee…I bet there are a lot of “News” people who do that…

  18. It is her only angle in any story I’ve read of her’s.

    The news always does this.

My favorite of the news here in MN is when people rob someone or are murder suspects they won’t ever say the race. They will just the age is around this and they are this tall and they had clothes on. It’s the worst description ever.
