    • Cancer Free, The Way to Be January 17, 2008
More proof that beer is good for you.  Researchers in Germany say that a cancer-fighting substance found in hops could be enhanced to brew a special anti-cancer beer. I don’t think I’ve read a better story all year. I know the year is young, but the only news that could be better would be “Drinking […]

    • Flaming Shot January 10, 2008
The flaming shot. It’s an amateur move for sure, but it looks cool. The problem is that a lot of people don’t know how to take this shot. They can make it, and light it on fire and that’s where their “smartness” ends. Example 1 This dude is not smart. And the chick that says […]

We all love beer right? RIGHT!? Well not only is beer delicious and good for you, but it can be used for all sorts of things that aren’t drinking related. Here is the story. Below I have chosen some of my favorites; CLEAR UP BROWN SPOTS IN YOUR LAWN According to Andrew Lopez, a professional […]

    • About Bloody Time January 2, 2008
After a night of hard drinking you will wake up either drunk or hung-over. Being drunk is not the problem, it’s the coming down from being drunk and being hung-over that is the problem. The solution; a Bloody Mary. There are 3 types of morning drinkers. There is the person who drinks a Bloody Mary, a […]

    • DWI of the Year January 1, 2008
Here at Don’t Eat the Worm we don’t condone drinking and driving. It is a dumb and reckless move that can cost not only you your life but an innocent person. (Not saying you’re guilty.) BUT Meagan Harper is now a god in DWI/DUI circles. She was busted in Oregon with a .55 BAC. The […]

Good Luck?

Is there such thing as luck?

People talk about it all the time.

“I just got lucky.”

“Good luck.”

“Luck of the Irish.”

I’m sure there are more but I don’t want to spend 15 minutes trying to think of dumb ass sayings.

What is luck?

1. the force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person’s life, as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities: With my luck I’ll probably get pneumonia.
2. good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance: He had no luck finding work.
3. a combination of circumstances, events, etc., operating by chance to bring good or ill to a person: She’s had nothing but bad luck all year.
4. some object on which good fortune is supposed to depend: This rabbit’s foot is my luck.

That is the definition from Dictionary.com.

Personally I don’t believe in luck. Things just happen. Sometimes they are good, and sometimes they are bad. It doesn’t matter if you are wearing your good luck charm or not, the same thing would have happened either way.

Which brings me to this story. An Indian woman in Chicago tried putting a statue of a Hindu God into a river because it was broken during shipping. But instead she got swept away by the current and hasn’t been seen since. Why did she do this you ask? Because it’s some crazy good luck thing. Does anyone see the irony here? Well maybe it isn’t irony, but it’s funny to me. She tried to get good luck by putting some statue in a river and instead of getting good luck, she is gone. Forever.

Maybe it isn’t nice to laugh at people that die, but seriously how can people in the year 2007 still believe in luck? It’s like believing in magic. It’s ok when you’re a little kid and all, but grow up people.

And now for no reason, some paintball chick.

  1. I always say that if I didn’t have bad luck I’d have no luck at all…

  2. Hmmm…

Wouldn’t it be better to have no luck?

  3. There was a study done in the UK in the 90s that came to the conclusion that ‘lucky’ people are better at calculating odds. It seems we could create our luck, or otherwise, by being able to unconsciously work out what course would be most advantageous.

  4. I think there is a such thing as luck. Like for instance, if you are me, and you are playing backgammon with my father.. and the only thing that can help him is if he rolls double 6’s and he does. But crap like “luck of the irish” or doing things because they are lucky is kind of dumb. Nothing causes luck.it just happens.

  5. another good thing i switched my name on here is that you can tell which amanda is which!

and umm yeah…im not really into luck, so no comment.

and a dress to paintball? not very realistic…pfft!

  6. I don’t believe in luck either…I’m just wicked-awesome, and that chick in the river was not (omg is it horrible to say that? Fuck it I don’t care…lol…)

  7. I’m anti luck too. It’s called life. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. If you have good times it doesn’t mean you are lucky, and it’s not bad luck when the times are bad. It’s called the law of averages.

  8. Luck is only one letter away from fuck, which is what you’ll be saying if you rely on luck too much.

  9. Anthony – Hmmm..That’s pretty interesting. I will try and find that study.

Pessimist – I don’t know how to play backgammon so it would be luck to see me even playing.

Amanda – Don’t ruin my fantasy!!

Romi – You are wicked awesome. And that’s not that bad to say, or think.

T-Rex – I couldn’t have said it better myself brotha.

    DT – True that!
